How to stay visible to an ATS
DOWhat helps you rank
Mirror the exact wording of the job post: if it says "stakeholder management", use that phrase.
Put the job title you are targeting directly under your name.
Start each bullet with an action verb and include a number: %, AED, headcount, time saved.
Use standard headings: Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills.
Write dates the same way everywhere, for example "Mar 2022 – Present".
Send PDF unless the posting asks for Word. Both Atsly exports contain real, selectable text.
AVOIDWhat gets you filtered out
Two-column layouts, tables and text boxes. Many parsers read them out of order.
Skill bars, icons, photos and charts. A parser sees nothing there.
Contact details placed in the page header or footer area.
Creative headings such as "My Journey" or "What I Bring".
Keyword stuffing or hidden white text. A recruiter reads the CV after the software does.
First-person writing ("I managed…"). Start with the verb instead.
Atsly helps job seekers build CVs that get past applicant tracking systems (ATS) and land in front of a real recruiter.
Why we built it
Most large employers in the UAE, the GCC and worldwide screen applications with software before a person reads them. Good candidates get filtered out because of a two-column layout, a missing keyword or a job title written differently from the job post. Atsly fixes that with clean, machine-readable templates and a checker that compares your CV with the job you want.
What makes Atsly different
Free to use. All 48 templates, PDF and Word downloads, CV import and job matching.
Private by design. Your CV is stored in your own browser. There are no accounts, and we never upload or see your data.
Built for real hiring. Templates follow what ATS software and recruiters expect, with Designer layouts for when you hand your CV to a person.
Made for the region. Room for nationality, visa status and a photo when the role calls for it, plus Arabic and English language fields.
Where we're based
Atsly is built in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Choose a template. Pick from 34 ATS-optimised layouts or 14 Designer layouts. You can switch any time without losing your content.
Add your details, or import your CV. Type into the builder, or upload your current CV as a PDF or Word file and Atsly fills in the fields for you.
Match it to the job. Paste the job description. Atsly lists the skills the employer asks for, shows which ones your CV already covers, and lets you add missing ones in one click.
Fix the format. Ten automatic checks flag missing contact details, weak bullet points, inconsistent dates and more.
Download and apply. Get a PDF, a Word file or plain text for online forms. Your score updates live as you improve your CV.
Everything happens in your browser, so it's fast and your information stays with you.
Is Atsly really free?
Yes. All templates, downloads, CV import and the job match checker are free to use.
What is an ATS?
An applicant tracking system is software employers use to collect, sort and filter job applications. It reads your CV, pulls out details like job titles, skills and dates, and ranks you against the job post. If it can't read your CV properly, a recruiter may never see it.
Is my data safe?
Your CV is saved only in your own browser on your device. Atsly has no accounts and doesn't upload your CV to any server. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, removes it.
Can I import my existing CV?
Yes. Upload a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file and Atsly fills in the builder. Scanned images can't be read, so use the original file. Always review the imported details.
Should I send a PDF or a Word file?
Send a PDF unless the job post asks for Word. Both files from Atsly contain real, selectable text that ATS software can read.
Should I add a photo to my CV?
In the UAE and much of the GCC, photos are common and often expected. For jobs in the US, UK and Canada, leave the photo off. Atsly's Photo templates keep your text in one column so it still reads cleanly.
What's the difference between ATS and Designer templates?
ATS templates use one column and standard headings, so application software reads them reliably. Designer templates add color, skill tags and a sidebar, and work best when you send your CV straight to a recruiter.
Does Atsly work on my phone?
Yes. The site works on any phone browser, and an Android app is in testing.
Can I make an Arabic CV?
Not yet. Atsly currently supports English CVs. You can list Arabic under Languages, and Arabic support is on our roadmap.
Where is my CV saved if I switch devices?
Your draft lives in the browser you used. To move it, download it as Word or PDF and import it on the other device.
Practical, short guides to help you write a CV that gets read.
A UAE CV is usually one to two pages, clear and achievement-focused, with a few personal details you wouldn't include elsewhere.
Length and layout
Aim for one page with under five years of experience and two pages for more. Use a clean, single-column layout for online applications, since many UAE employers and recruitment agencies use ATS software.
Personal details recruiters often expect
Nationality
Visa status (for example employment visa, residence visa or visit visa)
Current location in the UAE
Notice period or availability
Driving licence, if relevant to the role
Add these in Atsly under Additional details. Avoid sharing your passport number, Emirates ID number or salary on your CV.
Photo
A professional photo is common in the UAE but rarely required. If you use one, choose a Photo template so your text still reads cleanly.
Languages
List languages with a clear level, for example "Arabic (native), English (fluent)". Bilingual candidates stand out in many customer-facing roles.
An applicant tracking system turns your CV into data, then compares that data with the job post.
What it does
Extracts the text from your file.
Splits it into sections such as experience, education and skills, using your headings.
Pulls out job titles, employers, dates and skills.
Scores how well you match the job's requirements and keywords.
What trips it up
Two-column layouts, tables and text boxes, which can be read in the wrong order.
Text inside images, icons or charts.
Creative headings such as "My Journey" instead of "Work Experience".
Contact details placed in the page header or footer.
Inconsistent dates.
How to stay readable
Use one of Atsly's ATS-optimised templates, standard headings and consistent dates such as "Mar 2022 – Present". Then run the job match checker to confirm your keywords are covered.
Recruiters skim. Every bullet should show what you did and what changed because of it.
Use this formula
Action verb + what you did + measurable result.
WeakResponsible for handling customer complaints.
StrongResolved 60+ customer complaints a week, raising satisfaction scores from 82% to 91%.
Tips
Start with verbs like Led, Built, Increased, Reduced, Launched or Trained.
Add a number wherever you can: %, AED, people, time saved.
Keep each bullet to one or two lines.
Put your most impressive result first under each role.
Use three to five bullets for recent roles and fewer for older ones.
ATS software looks for the same words the employer used in the job post. Matching them, honestly, raises your ranking.
Where to find them
The job title itself. Put it under your name if it matches your experience.
Tools and systems, such as Salesforce, SAP, Excel or Power BI.
Skills listed under "Requirements" or "Responsibilities".
Certifications and qualifications.
Where to put them
Add them to your Skills section and, more importantly, inside the bullet points where you used them. A keyword backed by a real example carries more weight with both the ATS and the recruiter.
Use the checker
Paste the job post into Atsly's Job match. It lists the keywords found in your CV and the ones missing, so you can add them in one click.
It depends on where you're applying.
Usually expected or common
UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and parts of Europe and Asia.
Usually left off
US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland, where employers avoid photos to reduce bias.
Choosing a good photo
Recent, head and shoulders, facing the camera.
Plain, light background and even lighting.
Dress as you would for the interview.
No selfies, sunglasses or group photos cropped down.
In Atsly, upload your photo under Contact details and choose a template from the Photo category.
A good cover letter is short: three or four paragraphs that connect your experience to this specific job.
A simple structure
Opening: the role you're applying for and one line on why you're a strong fit.
Proof: one or two achievements that match the job's main requirements.
Fit: why this company, and what you'd bring in your first months.
Close: thank them and say you'd welcome an interview.
Tips
Address a person by name when you can find it.
Reuse keywords from the job post, just as in your CV.
Keep it under one page.
